COUNTY ASSEMBLY OF BUNGOMA AWARDED BY THE COMMISSION ON ADMINISTRATIVE JUSTICE (OFFICE OF THE OMBUDSMAN)

The County Assembly of Bungoma has been awarded for instituting mechanisms for resolution of public complaints and implementation of service charters.

County Assembly of Bungoma was among the four County Assemblies across the country that have met all requirements for compliance. Other County Assemblies were Vihiga, Siaya and Kisumu County Assemblies.

The county Government of Bungoma was among the five County Executives out of the 47 Counties that were also awarded.

The award puts the County Assembly on the right trajectory in terms of addressing public complaints and petitions which are key in the implementation of performance contracting.

The County Assembly has ensured availability of complaints, whistle blowers and conflict of interest boxes at open places within its precincts that is accessible to the public. The County Assembly also has complaints, whistle blowers and conflict of interest registers that are in place for reporting such issues when they occur.

The certificate was presented to the Speaker Hon. Emmanuel Situma and the Clerk Mr. Charles Wafula at a function attended by the County Assembly of Bungoma Ombudsman Committee.

Also present at the event was the Governor of Bungoma County H.E Kenneth Makelo Lusaka who received the award for the County Executive category; he congratulated the County Assembly for being a model County Assembly and leading the way in exemplary performance.
